The Glen Head School PTO, Glen Head/Glenwood Landing Boys Scouts and the Glen Head Community Youth Center are working together to present a AAA Bike Rodeo on Saturday, April 21, 2018 which will be held in the Glen Head School parking lot from 9:00 – 11:00 AM weather permitting. This program will focus on bicycle safety where students bring their bicycles and wear helmets and complete a variety of station activities ranging from checking tire pressure and helmets adjustments to learning how to use hand signals, start and stop properly and maneuver around obstacles.
In addition to the stations, we would like to provide an opportunity for students to ride laps around the school building so they can practice some of the skills presented in the program while accompanied by an adult. The bike ride would begin at the school parking lot and head east on School Street to Cherry Street. Riders would head south on Cherry Street and then west on Prospect Street. The route would end at the playground where students will go up onto the walkway directly behind the school building and return to the crosswalk on School Street.
I am informing you about our intentions because we received approval for a road closure from the Town of Oyster Bay. This means that abovementioned roads will be closed from 8:00 – 11:00 AM on April 21, 2018. We need your support to make this happen. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you would contact me should you have any questions or concerns about the Bike Rodeo. I can be reached at 516-277-7701.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for our students. Thank you in advance for your support.
