77th Anniversary, a North Shore Tradition Since 1941
Attended by over 700 students, Principal Albert Cousins led the 77th Moving Up Day Ceremony at North Shore High School on Friday, June 1, 2018, a North Shore tradition since 1941.
To a loud round of applause, Principal Cousins for the first time publicly announced the school Valedictorian, Hally Marie Bello, and Salutatorian Perry Kleemann. Dressed in their grade colors, the students wore specially designed “Moving Up” t-shirts designed by teacher Laura Green. Many class videos were shown to the delight of the students! One highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Class of 2018 yearbooks with the theme, “Make your Mark.”
During the ceremony, the juniors performed their musical tribute followed by the senior response. The traditional Weaving Ceremony followed as seniors made their way to the front of the gymnasium (dressed in all white) while the juniors (in yellow), sophomores (in blue), the freshman (in green). To conclude, the seniors formed the line for the gauntlet for the annual Tapping Ceremony. Deserving senior, Zoe Malin was selected to continue this tradition and received the Faculty Honor Award.
Congratulations to all of students and the graduating Class of 2018! Many thanks to all of those who participated including students and teachers in the three grades and the North Shore musicians under the direction of David Soto. Afterwards, there was a fantastic “Celebration Carnival” hosted by the HS PTO filled with games, food, and fun for everyone to enjoy! Thank you to all of the parents who worked so hard to make this day so memorable.
