Milagros Buschfrers Presented with NEWS 12/ Bethpage Federal Credit Union Scholar-Athlete Award

North Shore Schools is proud to announce that Milagros (Mila) Buschfrers was recently presented with a NEWS 12/Bethpage Federal Credit Union Scholar-Athlete Award. Mila actively participates on the Vikings Varsity Volleyball Team. Mila has been recognized for her exceptional achievement in the classroom and on the athletic field. She will receive a certificate and a scholarship from Bethpage Federal Credit Union Scholar-Athlete Award.

Varsity Volleyball Coach Tracy Iacovelli said, “As a fifth-season varsity volleyball player, Mila has earned several scholar-athlete awards, been captained for two years, been named all-county in her junior year, all-class in her sophomore year, and led the team to an upset victory over the 6th seed last season. She has led the team in kills and aces as well.  But, her volleyball prowess doesn’t end at North Shore. She has been a member of the Sportime 16U and 17U Gold Teams (their highest level). This year, her team earned itself a trip the Girls’ Junior Nationals in Detroit, Michigan.” She added, “Simply stated, Milagros dominates in the game of volleyball.”

To qualify a student-athlete must have an A average and compete at a high level with honors such as all-county, all-state or national competition. Additionally, they need to have other unique outside attributes. Mila is an accomplished artist, works as the editor and contributing artist on the North Shore High School literary and art magazine, and participates in community service).

A profile on Mila will be seen soon on News 12 Long Island beginning (the dates to be determined). Please join us in wishing Milagros (Mila) Buschfrers much success in all of her future endeavors!
