I hope you are enjoying the summer months. During the past several weeks I have had the pleasure of working with teachers and staff to plan for the upcoming school year. We are excited to begin working with you and your child. The schedule for the first week of school is listed below:
School Begins Dismissal
Tuesday September 6 8:25 AM 11:40 AM Half Day
Wednesday September 7 8:25 AM 11:40 AM Half Day
Thursday September 8 8:25 AM 2:40 PM Full Day
Friday September 9 8:25 AM 2:40 PM Full Day
The supply list for your child’s grade level was sent home with report cards in June. Additional copies of the supply list for each grade level can be obtained at: www.northshoreschools.org.
Kindergarten students will receive a card with the teacher’s name on it. Please pin this card onto your child’s shirt each day for the first week of school so we can escort your child to the appropriate classroom.
The cafeteria will begin serving lunch on September 8, 2016 for students in grades 1-5. Kindergarteners can begin buying lunch on September 19, 2016. Menus will be distributed to students on the first day of school. All information including lunch prices can be found on the menus. Please make checks payable to North Shore Schools for any amount you want to place in your child’s account and write your child’s name and room number in the memo section of your check. Information pertaining to your child’s lunch account can be obtained online at the district web site or you can call the food service department at 277-7090.
Transportation will be provided for eligible students starting September 6, 2016. Information pertaining to bus routes will be mailed to your home from the Transportation Department (277-7930).
Please take a moment to review the enclosed copy of “Procedures for Arrival and Dismissal” with your child. The building will remain closed until 8:15 AM each morning. I ask for your cooperation in strictly adhering to these procedures in order to ensure the safety of all our children. If you are in need of childcare, a flyer from the North Shore Before/Afterschool program is included in this mailing.
Please be sure to notify your child’s teacher in writing of the way in which your child should be dismissed beginning the first day of school. Changes to the normal dismissal schedule should be noted using a “Change in Going Home Arrangement” form. A copy is included in this packet for your convenience and is also available on the Glenwood Landing School website under “Policies & Forms.” Changes to routine can be made by phone only for emergencies.
Please mark your calendar for Back to School Night on September 15, 2016. The schedule will be:
