Dear Middle School Families,
There is a lot to talk about this week regarding events and accomplishments here at the middle school. First of all, we need to congratulate our entire North Shore 7/8 Band group for their wonderful performance last week at Carnegie Hall. That’s right, our kids played in front of a packed house at Carnegie Hall and they were absolutely AMAZING! A special thank you goes out to Mr. Mordhorst and the many teachers that volunteered to support our students during this wonderful evening of music in New York City
In addition, we need to congratulate the 15 students that participated in the MOMATH competition last week. They did an outstanding job demonstrating their math and problem solving skills against other schools from Long Island and New York City. We have terrific students and they do terrific work that we should all be proud of.
So what comes next for our students and families? On Tuesday April 18th our PTSO will be sponsoring special guest speaker Kym Laube, HUGS, Inc., who will talk to parents about Drug & Alcohol use and the parenting moves that help most. On April 19th, Kym Laube will run workshops with our 8th grade students focused on drug and alcohol use and how our students can make good choices as they prepare for high school. In addition to our special guest speaker, students will be joined by our high school Key Club students for these special workshops and presentations. We want to thank our high school for supporting us as we tackle this important teen issue.
Our next Principal’s Coffee will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 8:30am in the middle school library. All topics are open for discussion and we hope you will join us as our marking period comes to an end on Friday April 7th.
Finally, our middle school book fair will begin on April 18th and ends on April 21st this month. Please support the PTSO and your children in their reading by buying them some excellent books to read.
Have a terrific weekend!
